Episode #3, What Your Favorite Films Are Telling You

For Episode 3, I spoke with Bryan Coley with Art Within. We had an amazing conversation that explores story, films, politics, faith and culture.

We cover everything from Saving Private Ryan, Tommy Boy, The Last of the Mohicans and the Martian.

How is God speaking to you through your favorite films?

Bryan is the founder and Chief Creative Officer of Art Within, an organization dedicated to bringing together faith and story. He is also the President/CEO of Art Within Productions. Coley has been writing/directing/producing for over 26 years. Bryan received a film degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and worked for Turner Broadcasting for 12 years. Founding Art Within as a writer’s group in 1996, Art Within has commissioned and developed over 50 writers and 30 projects for stage and screen. The Atlanta Journal claimed that Coley’s work “focuses on questions that the rest of American Theater has barely begun to explore.”
Bryan made his feature film writing, directing and producing debut with CRACKERJACK, a Southern comedy executive produced and narrated by Jeff Foxworthy. Under Coley’s guidance, Art Within launched a resident theater company, a literary wing, a creative team to partner with writers, a script development process, and an annual writer’s lab and symposium.  Recently, Coley re-imagined the methods Art Within was using with writers to launch REEL, a revolutionary experience that gives your a fresh lens to see yourself, others and God through your top ten movies.  Coley resides in Marietta, GA with his favorite leading lady, Susan, and their children, Houston and Haviland.
